Aparently the amount of land open to snowmobile use is decreasing in the USA.
Anyone out there got a good summary of the situation?
Things like: total acres (or sq miles) open to snowmobile access in 2000 v.s 2007?
Govt proposals that restrict sled access for the future...2008-09?

Also: snowmobile participation. How many more (or less) people snowmobile in 2000 v.s 2007?
Credible, validated facts & thier source would be super appreciated.

Greenies are a good source for this info.

Winter Wildlands Report: The report is a little dated, but the numbers are still fairly close. Of course, some of the "open area" doesn't have snow, but the Forest Service doesn't like to give out this info. See the last pages for a breakdown of acres by state and forest. WinterWildlands.org

SAWS has some great info: SAWS
Go to the FACTS section.

American Council of Snowmobile Assoc: ACSA
Good list of info.
