i wanted to do the same to my 02. the 02 rmk came stock 2.52 pitch. you will either need to drop your chaincase or run 7 tooth drivers to clear a 2.4 track.

What would I need to change my gearing to compensate for the smaller drivers?
I would go with the 2 1/8 series 4, good track and goes right on. if you are going to the trouble to get the 2.4 to work I would go with a camo extreme, I had a holz drop kit on my 02 with the 2.4
If you are looking for 2.52 pitch 2.4" Polaris tracks then call Carl's Cycle. They have some new and nearly new ones for incredible prices right now.
It won't fit without going to 8 tooth drivers or dropping the chaincase. As rmkboxer says, going to the slightly taller than 2" track is a lot easier.

Is there a camo extreme in 144? The only reason I want the Polaris track is it's almost brand new and it's cheap but it's the 2.4 lug
The best bang for your buck is the camoplast challenger 2" lug is at least 60% more efficient that either the series 3 or series 4 Polaris tracks. No fuss, no muss. Polaris doesn't know how to design powder tracks because they are in Minnesota, with nothing but cornfields, as far as the eye can see.

i guess i thought the 02 rmk came with 8 tooth drivers. don't you have to go with 7 tooth drivers for a 2.4 track? or am i wrong on this.

i really dont want to cut them down that kind of defeats the purpose of a new track im really just confused on what to do with my gearing after i change to 7 tooth drivers

i would probably go 19/42 or 19/43 gearing and run that

With 7T drivers to get the same rollout I would have to go to 22/41 for the same gearing.

And Polaris does know how to design good powder tracks. The 05/06 2.4 in 2.52 pitch is still one of the top 2 or 3 fluffy powder tracks ever built.
It's at least 49% more efficient.

I assume that the track efficiency is approximately equal to lug width squared x lug height x total number of lugs in contact with the powder. Since the camoplast lugs are 5 inches wide and the series four lugs are about 2.5 inches wide, each camoplast 2 inch lug is approximately 4 times more efficient than a 2 inch high series four lug. But you have to count lugs in order to get a better handle on how much more efficient the camoplast track actually is. You will notice the difference from the very first instant that you hit the throttle, when you have a camoplast challenger track on. It feels like Bigfoot is giving you a push start. But you turn around to see the size of the guy who just gave you a boost, and nobody is there. Spooooooky!

The 2.4 will fit without any modifications, sure it's a little tight, but it fits.
We put the 159 2.4 series 4 under both of my buddies 800 edges, one was a '02 and the other is a '05. No need to drop and roll or change drivers. Couple of thousand miles on them both now and zero issues.

This is a great track for an edge blows the doors off a camoplast 2" when comes to climbing, I run both, a 159 2.4" series IV will fit in an edge chassis no problem even with a 9 tooth driver, however if you want to prevent any possible hydroloc run a 8 tooth anti-ratchet got any hp you need an anti-ratchet with the 2.4".

It's pretty much stock just slp twins no real ratcheting problems ever do you think it will hydrolock? I'd like to do this swap as fast quick and easy as possible so all the advice is much appreciated thanks guys

I just stuffed a 2" Camoplast Challenger under an '02 Edge RMK tonight and I can't see how you will get a 2.4" in there without smaller drivers or dropping the chaincase. This sled has 1600 miles on it with the stock Polaris 2" track and it has black rubber streaks down about 1/3 of the tunnel.
Maybe pull the chaincase to get the 2.4 in there? I had a heck of time getting the track teeth to pop over the drive teeth even with the 2".
