600 VES Engine Toubleshooting

I have an 02 Pro X 44-/600 that I'm having a little bit of trouble with.
It runs great, fast, sounds awesome when you first start it.
But after riding for about 10 minutes (Reaching operation temp I'm assuming) it bogs down really bad, and just feels like it has no power.
Friend suggested jets.
Its got 430 right now,
But I'm gonna get some 390's in the morning.
I just wanted to know if anyone had any other suggestions of what it might be,
So I could maybe get it all fixed at once.

Any info would great.

It pops, and back fires a little when you first start it.

Hmmmm
Central Alaska so Ima say 2000-3000 feet.

Yes there in an Airbox.
Its very hard to seat the boots across the carbs.

make sure the vent hoses on the carbs are hooked up to the air box, if they are not they will run like you are saying. if they are hooked up could be the coolant temp sensor. not sure what the jetting should be but could also be the problem

Gently lift up on the carbs when installing the airbox, and it should pop right in. Which pipe are you running? And yes, jet it down a bit as they are pig rich, go to 400's first, gotta factor in your colder temps as well.
Make sure your exhaust outlet isn't bent, needs a snow deflector as well.

That helped me get the boots on nicely.

It has the stock 600 pipe with an MBRP can.

Exhaust outlet is in great shape,
And still has the snow deflector on the bottom of the tub.

Re; Jetting

I had a 2001 EDGE-X 600, came stock with 430 mains, I changed them immediately to 400's ran it that way for 3+ seasons @ 1200" elevation at temps as cold as -10* F

All stock except for Hot Seat head

Check your antifreeze level and and quality. The liberty 600 ves tends to loose power and quality proformance if it is running too hot. if you are not in powder, Always kick snow up onto the foot rails where the coolant runs through. it will greatly help to keep the sled running cool.

It may be too hot, check the thermostat. I have seen a number of faulty t-stats in the 02 era 600's

Well new t stat.
400 Mains.
Complete coolant flush.
Cleaned carbs.
New airbox boots.
Little hoses from the carbs to the airbox connected.

Still bogs down after running for a couple minutes.
Actually cut out and shut down today.
(Symptomatic of overheating huh)

Got one more thing I forgot to check.
I will let you all know if that was the problem.

If the liberty 600 overheats it will cut out about 80% of your normal operating power (based on experience from mine) It will seriously bog, loose power, and even shut down, if it becomes too hot.
The temp sending unit might be controling the symptoms that you are experiencing. could possibly be faulty.

not sure if your sled has one but. Try plugging in your electronic circut bypass key. It is used if you have an electronic failure while youre ridding. and will allow the motor to run, but nothing else will work dash lights, head lights etc..

Alright,
So when I pulled the engine,
To replace the water pump shaft,
I didnt alighn the oil pump.

So I did that and it runs alot better now.
But backfires,
Bogs,
And still loses power after a couple minutes.

Where is this sending unit?
Seems logical to try out any and all suggestions.

Someone suggested 440 CDI box isnt matched up with the 600 flywheel.
(As in the CDI boc I got with the 600, might be the wrong one).
How might I be able to confirm this?

If you are running the 440 cdi on the 600 it might be the problem, different timing curves needed.
