My 08 M1000 only has 50 miles on it but seems to idle really high when warm. When I start it idles at 1700 (normal) after I take it for a ride and come back it holds at about 3200 rpm and take a while (5 mins ) to come back down. This is an issue as my reverse won't kick in above 3000 rpm and as such am stuck without it. Any ideas why ???? there has been a couple of times when mid ride it has gone to normal rpm when stoped but not very often

any help would be great.

All three of the ones in my group did this when they were new, I have a couple hundred miles on mine now and it is all better. I would just break it in before i got too excited if i were you.

No break-in mode (My M8 has run WFO at 8100 on the stand and idles perfectly at 1600-1700ish).

For the up/down idle, sounds like a temperature sensor issue either intake air temp or coolant temp. Any modifications or is your M1000 all stock?

What altitude are you guys at, I havent experienced that yet. It seems like an issue that would worsen as it breaks in, it may prove even more annoying. Abnormally high idle is typically associated with a lean condition, are you stock? no intake, etc? I am certain that 2 or three points at 3k L on a BD would remedy.

Like VOHK said, lean. I'll bet your temp sensor is getting too hot and leaning it down. It will act just like the wrong pilot jet in a carb. I don't know the answer to a fix, but I would bet that is what is going on.
