I just went with a Powermadd Pivot Riser adapter and a 4" riser (about 6" of total rise) on my 2002 and really like it. Had to use a extended throttle cable and brake line though.

Current Set-Up: PowerMadd Pivot Adaptor, 4" PowerMadd Pivot Extension, Stock Handlebars, RMK / FabCraft Grab Bar, RSI Aluminum Short Bar Hooks, RSI 7" Rubber Grips, Rox/PoweMadd handguards, RSI Extended Brake Line, PowerMadd Throttle Cable Extension.

I used marine-grade vinyl with a 7" sewn-on zipper to close off the area between the tank and handlebar pad. The Rox/PowerMadd handguard mounts are on the "inside" of factory controls. I used a 7/8" hole saw to drill the holes through the factory cover (looks the same as the factory grab bar holes). I have noticed that the RSI grips are "soft"...they are already showing wear after one trip.
