Thermostat a must..u can put one right in the head..also frog skin on air box and of coarse air cleaner cover frog material..forks stiffer as mentioned and ride it my bro has a kaw done very little else hand gauntlets ect worked great starts amazing worked good

What i did on my 2009 kx450 was thermobob, engine cover, pipe wrap, (with silicone spray) factory effex temp sticker, and dobeck tuner.
Thermobob. $75
Engine cover. $5 (rolled up kids sled cut to fit and zip ties to fit)
Pipe wrap. $30 Header wrap soaked with silicone spray
Factory effex temp sticker. 3 for $15. These are surprisingly accurate and dont get ripped off by trees.
Dobeck tuner $400. Gets the bike to run perfect air fuel ratios. Its not needed but really woke the bike up.
Im sure others have done more but this is what worked for me.
