Pretty sure I will be a kit for my bike this year. Just trying to get a mental picture of what I will need for my bike to make it snow ready?

I was dreaming about putting on a recluse clutch to make life a bit more simple on the hill. What else should I be looking at.

Probably going with a TS kit as well.

I would just out on a stat and light.... Then ride it and figure out what you want...

What is a new higher output stator worth? On my sled i rarely ride with a light. I did a bit of research and it appears the kawi can run a light off there stator. Prob just a small 35w. Really all i would need to get down the trail at the end of the day.

Thermostats?

Pipe wrap?

What about intakes?

Any changes to rad?

I prefer the dry filter intake to keep snow off... If you are running Tss it should come with it... I like a light mainly win your riding in storms or clouds your more visible... I had some close calls where sleds did not see me... But my bike was black. I use a tunnel cooler... Not needed for you though...

If your concerned about a light you could always run one of the frankensled headlamps. I use one on my sled and will do the same on the bike this year.

If you end up with a TS i have a fixed strut fit kit sitting here from a 2014 KX450 that i dont need and they are the same parts for your bike

I ran that bike last year, and it never left me stranded.
But, I am in the east, riding 600-1600' and on the best days 2-3' of powder.

Stiffer fork springs are a must, .58 or stiffer. I went with .64 from riders edge.
Airbox- I did the backfire screen delete, ran the TS filter over the cage without the foam. Also covered vents on the side plates with frogskinz bulk. I didn't cut out bottom of airbox, but would rec doing that.
Carb- I ran one step richer on main and pilot, 178/48 I believe. Bike ran warm to hot -10 cel and warmer. When it was colder, I ran two steps richer. Ran all my carb hoses into a diy drilled out bottle.
Skid plate- not much available in the aftermarket, so I made my own from hdpe.
No thermostat. No lights.

I think the gearing is perfect on this bike. First is for loading and unloading. I would start from a stop in 2nd, and used 2nd and 3rd in tight trees, and 3-5th in open areas.

Maybe I got lucky with that bike, it was easy to install kit, although I had to shave one bushing down a bit. I've got a fi kxf now, and just starting to build it.

Get a Cyclops 630 light bar, they only take 30W. Mine worked on my carbed 07 yz450f. Stupid bright.
stiff fork springs or just preload spacers cut out of SCH80 pipe couplings.
hand guards.
Dont get crazy, you will be upgrading bikes after this season once you ride an EFI E start bike!!

Check out the other kits out there, there are some good options!!!

08/08 is built on that date. It is a 2009. First year of EFI for Kawasaki as well.

Its fixed not fix. It connects the skid to the upper suspension mount on your bike. The fixed means it is a solid rod vs the TSS kit that timbersled makes that is an air shock that allows the bike to pivot to the skid increasing travel and making it feel more like a normal DIrtbike. Im going TSS this year but its a $1500 kit vs $450ish for the fixed.

Pick up the 2015 st kit next week. Now for bike mods.

Need a thermostat. Do i need to get a carb heater adapter or not?

Sounds like your bike is efi so no carb = no carb heat needed.

I have a 2011 kx450f and built my intake using these parts.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016MKEW8M/

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CKS1QK

Bent up some stainless welding wire to make a cage for filter and a piece of aluminum pipe as a backer to clamp the filter to the boot.
looks a lot like this as we pretty much copied the idea
http://www.garysengine.com/My Documents/Menu Garys Engie/snowbikes.html

I pulled the airbox completely off to give plenty of room for the intake

Below your post in the classifieds KAWGRN mentions he has a kx450f fit kit available, might want to hit him up with a pm.

Check out our patented heated Pro Taper Reed/Henry handlebars @ www.razemotorsports.com. They use your engines warm coolant to keep your fingers nice and toasty. Temp is completely adjustable, wont rob any battery power, and comes with a thermostat. We have only fitted them for the 2015 and Newer bikes so just make sure that 30" of hose will reach your coolant line.
