Interesting that Polaris seems to be the most expensive right now. I'm a polaris fan and would like to try the 850, but you can get a new 2019 850 skidoo with shot for close to $10,000. Arctic cat alpha is just under $11,000 for a new 2019 and can snowcheck a 2020 for $12,500. Polaris is close to $14,000 for a 2019 or snowcheck a 2020.

Now I've ridden both those and prefer the polaris, but with a few known engine issues, I'm surprised the price difference.

Anyone seeing better deals? the 2018 800 for $9,000 was a great deal, just wanted to try an 850.

Is the warranty the same across the brands for the prices vs Polaris?

Cat only offers 1 year factory warranty on snowchecks this year (2020). If you want more you havevto buy aftermarket. If your sole purpose in buying a sled is to get the cheapest price possible, snowcheck is not for you. Snowcheck is for the guys who don’t mind throwing an extra grand or two down the toilet to have the lastest, greatest and coolest!

Being from Washington I know Oregon has no sales tax you can buy in Oregon but Washington State will collect the sales tax if you try to license it in Washington. If you knew someone who lived in Oregon you might use their address to license it even if it works of course it’s illegal.

Not true. I know this well and live in Idaho. One can buy a sled, or any vehicle, in a no-tax state, such as Oregon, but you will have to pay the sales tax when you title and register it. For Idaho, it's 6%.

You can try to buy in Oregon and register it there...but only if you live there. If you don't live there and list an address there to avoid taxes, you risk a felony.

Tax man is gonna get ya.

BTW...sled prices are getting out of hand...I'm glad to see AC working to reduce them.

AC is reducing price by reducing warranty by 3 years.

That, plus they are losing market share BIG TIME to Polaris and Doo, so they don't really have a choice but to lower prices to try to attract buyers to their brand. Teaming up with Yamaha was the biggest mistake Cat did. It was a last gasp effort for Yammi to have a viable mountain sled, and that fell flat. Pretty much ruined Yammi, and Cat is headed down the same road. Was the alpha Cat's last gasp . . ? Time will tell :)
