Quick chain case question

I took the gears and chain out of my 09 just to change check them out while changing the oil. I didn't pay attention to the way the tensioner came out. It is the slide type, not the roller, and there is a little lip that sticks out past where the chain slides on. So does that go towards the chain case, or the cover?

It seems like the chain more naturally falls in when it is positioned out, but I just want to be sure. Thanks!

Well I put it back in with the lip out. Seemed to be the best fit, if its backwards I guess I will just grind in a new groove.

yeah seemed like the bump goes towards the outside, its pretty much the wear mark. was wondering the same too when i opened mine

out with the lip is correct..

or u can change it to the roller style!
