Regear and Chain replacement

Does any know the general rule of thumb for replacing the chain? I have a 2007 800R 151, and was going to regear to a 19/45 (21/45 stock). Just wondering if it is worth putting on a new chain as well. I have 1000 miles on it.

You should be fine for a long time....but if you spend the $$ on gears and chain you should think about going with the TEAM Hyvo conversion.....same price and alot stronger.
