Picked up the new Alpha helmet today.

Motorfist Alpha weighs 1128g. 2 lbs 7 7/8 oz

Airoh Aviator weighs 1091g. 2 lbs 6 1/2 oz
(Did take out weight for go pro mount)

Alpha is a lot smaller size wise so IMO equates to less weight on the gyro effect swinging your head around. And has better impact design. Airoh is more comfortable though. Both are Large size.

The size of the alpha is nice. After 30 laps around the house, over the couch, under the dining table, through the coat rack, no strain on my neck!

Seriously though, it is lacking in the comfort department. I know my neck is going to feel much better after riding than it does now with my heavy helmet.

How is the fit on the Airoh? I have never liked the motorfist fit, just to round. Is the Airoh more oval? How have you closed the top air vent off on an aviator.

Airoh is more oval and conforming. Never noticed the top vents plugging or getting in the way with snow. Vents in front do plug with snow

Speaking of neck pain lol. which one is designed to work with a sled jacket with the collar done up.

That to me is hard to find. I do some pretty good butchering at the back of the neck on new helmets (got a few lol). For me, the neck pain comes from collar pressure back there when I try to look up or on some it has been while just looking straight ahead.

Caught this a few years back when I went sleddin the day after biking with my new super-duper-lightest-CF-thing on the market helmet and the same helmet gave me neck ache before the end of the day while on the sled.

I did notice this too on my Airoh. If you look at the pic the back end lips up on it. It does catch on my jacket when looking up

I have never worn a balcava, i feel with the Alpha's shortness and lack of padding inside i will need to wear one now.
