I have a 2004 RMK 800 that has been overheating the last three trips. The last time it overheated and took out the headgaskets(orings). The water pump belt was good and I tested the thermostat. It opens at around 140 degrees. It hasn't used coolant until this last time when coolant got into the cylinders. The water pump hasn't been leaking. Any body else had this problem? Any ideas?

Thanks. Now can you check it on the motor or do you have to pull the pump? Also if you pull the pump does the gear side where the belt rides stay in the case or do you have to pull the gear off with a puller? I replaced one on a 97 700 but not sure if these are set up the same.

you can pull the cover off the back of the waterpump housing and see the impeller. you will need a new gasket. I am not sure if you will need to pull the motor or not
