Cold Air Intake

Has anyone ever run a BDX or Cutler intake without a fuel controller with stock pipes or maybe just a aftermarket Y-pipe? I have a 2011 CFR8 and I have these parts left over from my mod sleds. Just curious if it could be done? (low elevation)

my buddy has ran a bdx intake on his stock M7 and hasn't had any problems. I think the key to the bdx is that it utilizes the stock air temp sensor.

I run the BDX intake on my 11m8 with stock Y and pipe. Skinz super Q can. It removes a lot of weight (8lbs) and I haven't noticed any performance changes (positive or negative). Below 10k it rips, above 10k I have seen an occasional bog on the low end but it could have been from snow ingestion which I have since rectified.

Hit up BCIL if you need one - he'll get you one fast.

Probably didn't save any weight. But my thoughts are the simpler the better. The holes in the end cap aren't the only wholes. There about 15 holes that size drawing straight cold air. Stock plenum hang directly over the hot pipe. In the trees going slow. On and off the throttle that become a issue. One solid piece rather than 2 flimsy pieces with bends and restrictions. Works great.

Hmm makes sense, nice work by the way!

I would think you would have less bogging from snow blockage with his design also, because of drawing air from behind the windshield.

The BDX seems like a bad idea since the nose of the sled is in the snow a lot but it seems to work good.

I have a Cutler intake I bought used but never tried so I'm going to vent the nose and give it a try with stock pipe and D&D Y-pipe and no controller.

Here's a few more pics. Sorry sled looks like hell. Trailer with no tarp. 4 inch pcv.... No fuel controller needed cuz it breathes thew the stock air box. Also did my own side panel vents, headlight.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1360794158.636261.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1360794176.761852.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1360794194.066358.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1360794211.455170.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1360794236.061977.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1360794260.193255.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1360794275.937856.jpg
