Normal idle behavior?

New to cat.
Have a 15 m8000 with 1,400miles. Cold start it idles around 2,000-2,200. After 3min or so idle drops down to 1,650-1,750 and hangs there for a while, then after a minute or so idle will jump up to 1,900-2,000ish for 10 seconds then back down. It randomly repeats this while I wait for it to warm up.

I wrote it off as normal at first but figured I’d ask

I have a 14 with similar miles. Mine will do the same thing at start up. After idling for about a mnute it will rest at about 1700-1800 and fluctuate between there.

Yours doesn’t or u haven’t noticed it jump up to 2,000ish for a few seconds then drop back down?

I have noticed it going back up a few times, not on a regular basis.
When it does that, I move my throttle cable around my riser a little and it drops to normal.

I just went and started it in the garage for a Couple minutes. It idled up at first start, then down to right around 1700 sometimes a little lower and sometimes a little higher. There was 1 spike up to about 1850. But generally stayed right around 1700. Not sure what it would do after riding a couple hours. Sounded like it always does out riding though, so probably similar.
