What is the start date for off-road riding in the N. Horns??? I know stupid question, but it's been so long since we have possibly been able to ride early I can't remember.

Thanks!

Yeah, it opens up the 15th of Nov. But it is fun hitting the ditches up there this time of year. :face-icon-small-coo Up to 18" of fluffy goodness here in Gillette, 24" in the black hills.

black hills could be seeing up to 3 feet from what was said in the dakotas section!

I looked at the webcams posted up in that section and it looked like it was snowing pretty good

I agree. The owners of these lodges need to consider the fact that NO ONE wants to run their lodges all year. They need summer and winter managers. People that start fresh with the Season that they prefer. You can tell that most of all employees are completely burnt out early in the season. And the business's suffer because of it. Can you imagine what a enthusiastic manager would do?? I'm sure a big part of it is the wage that's involved needs to be higher. Both the manager and the staff can probably go live in town and make the same, if not more money and they would making in the town they live in. And they would be home every night and not have to deal with tourists.

I think someone should find out FOR SURE what happened to Corey and Dawnie and report back. Seems strange that they were hired at elk view this summer and "fired" within such a sort amount of time. From my experience at the three lodges on the north end they are happy with business that they get during any season. I agree that some updates during the winter would help business, but I have called Bear Lodge and asked what was going on up on the hill and got reasonable reports about snowfall. I know that the lodges on the south end of the horns are on facebook, but maybe I should tell them to get on this site. I guess ill go back to a post I read a while back, what happened to the anticipation of going up the mountain to see what it was like, without actually knowing?

I have heard that Corey and Dawnie have left the Elk View. There goes any hope of daily snow reports from the north end of the mountain. Haven't heard a peep from the other side this year either. One would think that some one at 1 of the 4 lodges up there would give a **** enough about business and promoting it that they would be on here doing it. Elk View has 6 or more webcams but they are still showing pictures from August. Bear only updates their webcam when ever they feel like it. I think 4 or 5 days ago was the last picture.

Come one people we would like to hear what is happening up there! You like our money but you don't want to do anything to get us up there?
I said last winter on Snowest that when I stopped into Wyoming High Country for a meal with some buddies while riding that the lodge was in bad shape, dirty and that Corey and Dawnie although nice were poor managers. I also said that they did not put their heart and soul into it because next year they will be gone. I was right.
It was very nice to see all the snow reports that Corey posted and I agree that the other lodges should do this as well. But that does not make them good managers and I think it did not take the ownership of the lodges on the east side of the mountain as long to find this out as it did for WHC.:argue:
