Heading out West in a few days and wondering what everyone's opinion is on the best settings to use for a Hero 3 Black edition. I can always check it out at the end of our ride but I'd rather not waste a days worth of video if anyone has some good or bad experience. From the links below it sounds like 2.7k @ 30fps Wide, 1080p @ 60fps Wide, and 720 @ 120fps Narrow all could work. Each one seems to have its place though. Let me know what you have found to work.

I have the silver and have been using the protune setting. Footage is awesome but I've noticed it sucks the battery down quicker. If your into editing using slow motion I would reccomend using 720 @ 60fps.

That looks like a good read. I've been shooting primarily in 720p at 120 fps. I've tried 1080 at 60 and it produced good video but I like the higher frame rate in case there's ever a want for some slow motion videos. I haven't tried the 2.7K or 4K yet, I don't know if they'd even play back on my computer.

Thanks for the input. I'm using a 32gb card, do you know how long you can shoot at 720 @120 or 60 fps before your card fills up?

I tried the 2.7k and my computer could not play it back. It is a few years old though...

Aspect ratio? There are tons of videos on you tube with every aspect ratio imaginable. I think you have a setting wrong but who knows what????

What ratio are you using?

I have tried stock settings, 1080/60, 720/60 and youtube won't let me upload them....Pain in the a**...

I think it has something to do with 4k setting...Maybe needs to be 2.7K..

I'll let you guys know if I figure it out..:face-icon-small-dis
