Rear Gusset

Went to change rear gusset Out and put on black They were hell to get off and install. My question is should they. Be this tuff? Or do they just slip out. I had too hit with rubber mallet to get it to come thru rear tunnel and getting them back inn was HELL??

I've personally only removed ones off of a '17 tunnel, but they didn't seem that bad to get through the tunnel.
