How are you coming up with that gear ratio? Kurts kit is 2.37:1 final drive ratio with 7t 2.86p drivers. Did you install 6t 3.00p drivers or something?

Plan on using the rear shock lockout feature much with the 174?
That is a good question. A side x side climb with/without lockout would show the difference.
Reddragon is into testing so Ill bet we will see a test.

I have the lockout QS3s on my Ski Doo 154 NA and the lock out on my 840 Patriot 163 and I think it's Unridable. Blows my mind that this stuff made it to production. It's way too stiff to do anything but go straight up a hill...

Now that you mention it... I have been so used to taking the gear ratio and and then dividing by 0.92 with the old pro stuff that I have been diong that still.

I took the 29/69 gearing and divided by 0.92 which equals 2.59.

Looks like im actually 2.28 gearing.

Still trying to get this picture thing figures out.

.92 for the 3" pitch 7 tooth drivers and .875 for the 2.86 pitch drivers with 7 tooth.

I thought Kurts gears were 32t top and 67t bottom for the Axys kit?

Edit: just called Kurts and they do have a 29t top 69t bottom gear down but it’s supposed to be for 600’s. Interesting. 2.71 final drive on 7t 2.86p drivers and 2.58 final drive with 7t 3p drivers.

thats funny for 600's..i geared my 154 doo to 2.73 final drive, and it flat out rocked with excellent holding of rpm, throttle response, cooler belt temps, too many guys worry bout top speed which is never used in pow.Gearing down will be 1st Khaos mod

Depends what kind of snow you ride in. In the west coast heavy wet snow I would think you’d never use lock out. In the Utah dry fluffy snow my rear shock lock out got used quite a bit. Works very well in super deep bottomless snow with a turbo.

I did something similar in my 16. I like the setup, but I have had factory guys tell me they made changes to the suspension an the 174’s to improve handling. I have never rode a factory 174 so I can’t say. I struggled with cooling and ended up adding the mtntk cooler. I am interested to hear your results.
