I am shocked at the number of posts some of you have that are leaving. A guy that only posts up a few now and then isn't going to be missed as much as the guy who has posted over 1000. That is the information we need on this site. Sad to see you go but I do understand.

That is a kind of poor way to judge someone's worth. Every person on here with over 1000 posts, started with just one.

With the pay site, unfortunately, you are ONLY going to see people with 1000+ posts, you won't be seeing any new members with a few posts.

I was around a long time ago, then they changed formats and lost all prior post information. I had over 800 posts on the previous format.

See you on H2Oregon, Snowtracks, Dootalk, Racine-Extreme, John Dee, MaizeKustoms or about half dozen other sites that don't charge.

Good-Bye Snowest....no more of my custom sled builds for you......(say that in the voice of the Soup-Nazi from Seinfeld)

Anyone who wants to finish watching the build of my sled from here can go to my website.

Oh, and just one more thing: Your snide comment in the PM "The announcement that SnoWest is moving to a free/paid option has generated strong support from a significant number of our members who, like us, believe that this will dramatically increase the overall quality of the site, the content, and the community. Sadly there has been a small gang of naysayers who have used this as a rallying cry to support their personal agendas and have taken it upon themselves to do as much damage to the site as possible by spreading their anger and discontent through what seems like an unending series of hate filled posts and threads, and of late spamming the site with pornography. (If you have not seen any of this you can thank all of the volunteer moderators who have been working overtime at cleaning it up as fast as it appears. If you have been the recipient of their scorn or abuse, please don't hesitate to report the post so we can remove it from SnoWest. Life is simply to short to have to put up with this nonsense) Unfortunately, the vindictive and spiteful actions of these few people serve only as another reason why we are moving forward with the paid member option. Even when it only costs 2 cents a day, paid memberships act as a filtering system to separate those who give our sport a bad name (the Trolls) from those who really care about our sport, it's people, and the community at large. Members with a vested interest in the success of the SnoWest Forums will seldom squander that investment for the opportunity to trash other members or the site itself. Our paid premium members will also have a real voice in helping us choose the direction of the SnoWest Forums as we move forward, and will discover that we now have the resources ready and available to help make SnoWest work the way they want it to." is insulting, to say the least.

I found this statement EXTREMELY offensive as I was NOT in favor of the "Pay Site". I voiced my dissent in a calm and professional manner. Not everyone who disagreed did so in a negative way. So I guess I am lumped into this group. Thanks for alienating me even further, Christopher. Nice touch....thanks for lumping everyone who didn't agree with you into that group. I guess those that don't agree with you are "bad people" who don't need to be around, according to you.

Well, I'm not about to say good bye(yet), but I am not going to pay. Initially I too felt very offended and alienated by the comments made in the PM Maize was speaking of, but then again I ultimatley chose what I want to take personally, and what I want to blow off as propaganda. To date haven't spoke up about my discontent regarding the changes that have occured so I can't really make an impact now, not that it seems any of the people making logical aguments were truely listened too by the "powers that be". It was on this collison course since the conception of the idea and there was no turning back.
From what I have found, I am still able to do enough with my new "free member" status. I can still read enough within the first 50 posts(as long as this isn't going to be reduced further), except for of course the regional forums in which I look at almost daily to see what the riding conditions are like. All of the current info is cut off sooooo, start a new thread and voila! As long as some of the people who haven't paid as well as those who have are still trying to work with this site co-operate, we can still get up to date info on our riding areas and not feel alienated for not paying for info that if I was pushed further to, I could find elsewhere.
So for now, I will try to work with this site, and see how it goes...

If you start any kind of thread about riding somewhere they will move it to its respective riding area forum. they've been working awfully hard to make sure info isnt in more than one branch of the forum. just stating the facts here bud. dont get mad

I am still starting the thread in it's proper location. I have already done this in the Western BC thread to get updates on the riding conditions in Revy. Just like if I was looking for info about the type of sled I ride. If it is buried past the 50 post threshold, I'll start a new thread inquiring about the info I need. I don't believe there are any rules reguarding this. And don't worry, I'm not mad. :face-icon-small-hap

Right you are.

If you start a thread about installing a super charger on your Yamaha Sled and post it in the Avalanche forum, it IS going to get moved to the appropriate forum.

WHY?

Because that way all the other members on SnoWest that might be searching for a thread on that subject will have a better chance of actually finding it.

Now, if there is a really good compelling reason why the subject matter needs to stay in the wrong topical forum, tell the forum moderator and I am sure they can make it stay there.

Just a thought...if your magazine wasn't reduced to the thickness of a piece of beef jerky over the past year or so, maybe you would have kept enough subscribers to not have to charge the dedicated users of the forums. Yes the same users that frequently purchase from your advertisers as well. I am out as well.

except for the whole deleting of continuous threads, and consolidating multiple threads about the same thing to one location......im not mad about it either, im just callin it like i see it.

oh and christopher, posting things about superchargers under avalanche topics is not what i was refering to. pretty sure no one is that retarded that they would think to post like that, but i guess you did, so never say never i guess, huh?

oh, and chris, before you go and jump all over me about the moving of threads and what i mean by it, i mean when you post somthing about riding in montana in the "general snowmobile" area, which if im not mistaken, would generally refer to someone snowmobiling immediately gets moved to the montana thread, then people that dont care about montana riding dont see it. maybe forum newbies need to be policed a little more, but when people that know what they're doing post stuff usually dont fuk up and put something in the wrong place. might seem wrong to you guys, but i guess a perfectly working and happy online community seemed wrong as well.........

And when that happens, and the user who started the thread gets a notice from the moderator that moved it, I suppose it would be asking to much to just nicely reply back to him/her requesting that it be left in the original place with an explanation.

You know honestly, the moderators are pretty nice people who have volunteered their own time and energy trying to make things work as smoothly as possible. None of them are out to get anyone or cause grief. You might be pleasantly surprised at how effective a nice friendly reply is.

Speaking only for myself, I have happily moved threads back when someone has asked me to.

its ordinary people out there that have made this site great. they provided the site with the information. it didnt just magically form and you stuck it on here and called it yours. this is the wikipedia of snowmobiles, and wikipedia is free, mind you! the information on the forums here, which makes up the majority of the useage of the site is the direct result of the work thousands of members have put in, and have you ever had members trying to tell you they want money from everyone that views their posts?

Not to hijack the thread, just a quick question about you "infractions 0/3 (1250) in your status ndC7M8? What's that about? I haven't seen that before and you have a rep score of 0 but you rep is "beyond repute"? Weird...
