This is the graph for this year to date.

#6. ISLAND PARK "MOUNTAINS"
SNOTEL Site: Black Bear
State: Montana
Site Number: 347
County: Gallatin
Latitude: 44 deg; 30 min N
Longitude: 111 deg; 8 min W
Elevation: 8170 feet

Still, the 2006 and 2008 levels are substantially higher than this years at this time. Therefore, one would come to a conclusion that this isn't a historic year for snow, nor an epic year for snow.

Ahh, but look at the graph.
This year has been a steady increase for months now.
Those years had huge dumps.

If the slope of the graph continues into the next couple months, we COULD have a epic year.

I see where you are coming from. I hope so for you guys sledding this year. But, with that much more snow, the avi danger becomes that much worse...

Thanks for the graphs. It's always cool to see real hard data.

Avy danger is always there but way better snow pack this year then last so it can handle more snow. I hope that it starts snowing good again soon or i am worried it will turn out to be just and average year in the end.

Looking back over the last 10 years graphs, looks like the BIG MELT is probably going to start in the next week.

Chances are we have seen the PEAK SNOW for the season unless we get REALLY LUCK and get nailed with one last big spring storm.

Otherwise, its all down hill from here.

I know long term forecast mean very little for the mountains but when the rest of November seems to be way above average for temps and there is no snow right now I can't imagine any good riding before christmas!! Which sucks since christmas is m longest break of the year to get out there and ride.!!!:face-icon-small-dis

It ALWAYS seems dicey here in december.
Some years its great and others it SUCKS.

Still seems WARM to me in the valley right now.
Just starting to see temps getting down to freezing at night.
But all the long range forecasts look pretty solid for the coming winter.

These are the 15 year values for "TODAY" in that year.
No doubt that we are NOT off to a great start but, BAD starts don't mean a bad year, and GREAT starts don't mean great years
