2009 800 summit dies intermittently

My wife's 2009 summit 800 has developed a electrical problem. It will start and run when cold but after a few minutes of riding it acts like someone hits the kill switch.
It has no spark after this happens but if you let it set for a while it will fire up and run again for a short time.

I'm leaning towards a coil or ecm but am wondering if anyone as ever seen a coil act this way?

It the voltage regulator bolted to the bulk head under your oil reservoir.

right side under the hood is a relay, replace it.

i had similar problem, same year. it was the coil wire that was mostly broken. it would shut down with vibration.
