I/Wife has a 99 AC Powder Special 500 with a worn out 9 pole Clutch, I found a newer 6 pole Clutch that came with a red spring & A1 48.5 gm weights, the PS has a yellow spring & 42.5 gm weights, I swapped out the red spring for the yellow one, but am hoping to leave the A1 weights in, the question is what performance difference can I expect with 42.5gm vrs 48.5gm weights?, the tool cover on the PS shows 46.5 for 0 to 5k, 42.5 for 5k to 9k, 40.5 over 9k, we mostly ride between 3k & 7k.

all you can do is try it and see how it works 2 grams = 200 rpm up or down if spring rate is the same

Thanks for the quick responce, So 6 grams heavier would be 600 rpm higher?, maybe I should put the red spring back in?, as my Wife probably would not want a high clutch engagement, do you know the rpm difference between the red, & yellow springs?.

After talking to a few shops the A-1 weights which turned out to be 47.1 gms would have worked, but the engagement would be too low, & top end would not be as high as before, so we bought new weights(44gm), kept the yellow spring, the on trailer test was good, just slightly lower engagement than before & now we just need some Snow for the full rpm range test.
