it's not a huge 'build' by any means.. just a big bore... but it will be mine (and it will RIP!!) ;)

So, my plans are:
RKTek 858 -um, yeah big bores are just SOOO much fun!

Camoplast 156" X3 (ohhh I'm stoked for this beefier track powered by a big bore!!)

Avid drivers to make the swap easier with the track.

Timberlsed rear conversion arm so I get maximum performance on my rear skid but not huge overkill on the budget! Timbersled stock replacement a-arms with Fox air shocks. We might be playing with the shocks a bit throughout the season...

Bully Dog controller for fuel tuning. Stoked to try out this bad boy!

Custom wrap -of course and BOY did Arctic FX hit this one outta the park!

Clutching will be dialed in but I have a Team tied I WANT to use for this project, I just need to find the right combo of everything for it!

Oh, and all the take off stuff will be powder-coated bright orange and my jacket is powder blue!! hehehehe, I know, I'm such a girl!!

Step 1: Start with a 2014 Polaris Pro RMK 155" Platform -step one is to actually obtain the sled which took me a month and a half longer than I had planned!! Yikes!! It puts me in a rush on the build but in all reality I wouldn't have had time to do it before now anyway with the snow show season these last few months! So, step one, Obtain sled!! CHECK! she's snuggled up with the crew down in the shop right now getting to know her new home!

Step 2: Project Makeover starts with getting new plastics. I wanted gray side panels to be the base color for my wrap. She arrived with red and didn't even leave the shop that way, immediate swap out to give me the right base to work with!

Step 3: The next step of the make-over will consist of an evening in the shop with goof-off and a blow drier! I get to strip her down!

Step 4: Once she's nekid I get to dress her up in her new outfit! I'm sure you all have seen her wrap on my previous posts? She's scheduled to get half of her outfit on this Friday night!! (I have to leave a few parts off since I will be doing some bracing that might interfere with the tunnel wrap.) If you all haven't seen my story about the wrap it can be seen here: http://www.emilie-moreshead.com/the-story-behind-the-wrap/. This year's wrap was SUPER personal for me and I spent HOURS working with the designers at Arctic Fx to create it. In the end, they of course WOWED me with their talent and the quality of the final product. I can't wait to install it!

Step 5: I've gotten most of the wrap on and have torn the chassis down completely to send it in for powder coating. This front and rear suspension had to come apart, the boards came off, the rear bumper and the seat support also got sent in. I also called on a friends help to build a custom mount for my camera case. The drivers have been pulled and the track taken off. I again called on some help from another friend to help press my new Avid drivers on!! Now I wait (ohhhhh this is the hardest part) for my parts to come back from powder coating so that I can put together my new Timberlsed Mountain Tamer Back Arm Upgrade Kit!! I'm hoping that my Camoplast Challenger X3 arrives ANY DAY so that I can start drooling over that (and planning how I'm going to stuff that into my tunnel!)

I'm hoping parts should be back from powder coating this week and my track should arrive next week!!!

The big bore and the rest of the build will happen after I break her in a tiny bit! Stay tuned for final pics of the make-over and chassis mods!!

Thanks!! yeah, I think it will just suit me better, I ride in sooo many different areas and sooo many different conditions I think the big bore will be a bit more of an all around machine for me...

Suspension is done at powder coaters and Timbersled is building my rear arm today. I hope to have everything all put together and get what I can on the sled this weekend!! I'm sooooo excited to get the orange on there and then finish the tunnel wrap!!! TOOT TOOT!! heheheheh

engine mods will come after she's been broken in!

Nice sled!
How are you getting a map for the bully dog to run the 858?

I'm working directly with BullyDog and RKTek at this point for the tune on this machine. I had a little bit of time since I got my sled late and wanted to get break in miles on her before I did the big bore (and I had spare cylinders from last years sled so the big bore could be just sitting on my shelf and ready to 'plop' in!!)

So hopefully Mid January I will be ready to do the build and Kelsey will have a tune worked out for me!!

I have some updated pics of the chassis build all done... just gotta find time to post them! yikes!! dern holidays! :)

Step 6: It's time to put her back together! I started with the rear skid and put on my Timberlsed Mtn Tamer conversion kit which required removing the stock tunnel stiffeners to install a beefier stiffener, drilling and attaching the rail modification piece and then assembling the skid with my new Fox shocks! I also did the stock replacement a-arms (powder coated orange of course!), and a set of Fox shocks up front as well!

Step 7: Install the work horse of all work horses! The 3" Camoplast track!! I used Avid drivers to give myself a little bit more room and get that extrovert performance! Things were a little tight with that stiff track so I used a little trick of using the natural bend in the track and a jack. It sure did save me some frustration and some skinned knuckles!

Step 8: Finishing touches... Final wrap touches. Install the XXXModRods Sled Armor bumper. Let her do her shop calisthenics.

Step 9: Get her out on the SNOW for break in!!

I know, I'm SUCH a girl.. but I had so much fun designing the colors and helping Arctic Fx design my wrap!!

catothom, awww shucks!! Sled has me beat by FAR!! :)

Merlin, will do!! I hope to do the motor build in the middle of Jan, just a few weeks away!!! I want to get a few more miles on the motor and wait until my schedule allows a tiny bit of down time! (and that I have some wrench time available!!)

The first ride on just the chassis upgrade was super fun! I want to play with suspension a tiny bit more, kinda nice to fine tune that before I attack the motor build. Sometimes when I do things all at once I miss out on some of the details ya know?? I'm glad I'm spacing things out!!

well the sled has turned out AWESOME! I'm really happy with the power and the responsiveness!! TONS of low end power, TONS of fun. Scuh a blast to ride!

I still have some fine tuning to get done and play with the BullyDog tuning I think but it's running spot on and I don't ever touch a thing, I have not doubts that the Bully Dog is a super sweet fuel control system!

I don't have any cool videos of me riding this season (I've been stuck doing a LOT of clinics...) but I can vouch for the other videos you see out there. If Kinzer's sled runs anything like mine (which I know it did) his videos are spot on with what this motor can do!

I might try to put her up some chutes in Revelstoke this spring but I have to be able to make it up there in the right conditions. Our local chutes were REALLY icy here last weekend and the snow down low to get into them is going fast, it's been a funky year for sure!

I just realized I never put the rest of my pictures up!! :)

Step 10: Tear her back down for the RKTek 858 big bore power plant fueled by the Bully Dog Power GT!!

Step 12: Order some fine tuning finishing touches from the clutching masters at Supreme Power Sports and then pose for a final picture with my shop helper! :)

So it's been my second season on this machine. I wanted to follow up that i'm still in love! :)

This year I tried to do a DynoPort pipe on this bad boy and it REALLY improved performance! Seemed to give it more bottom-end and more snort! loved it! However, after 3 days of custom tuning work from Bully dog we just struggled to CLEANLY get it to work with the RKTek head. I was super bummed cause I'm quite sure it made more power but it just didn't want to play nicely with the RKTek head and was adding a lot of noise as well as building heat (both issues resulting in a false det code being thrown and we weren't willing to bypass that even though the Bully Dog tuner had the ability to).

So after a lot of R&D I went back to the stock pipe set up. :( I was bummed but both myself and Bully Dog just didn't have any more time we were willing to put into testing -at some point you just gotta pull the chord and ride ya know? :) (plus I'm sure you all know we weren't having an epic start to our winter!)

Anyway, after we went back to our solid stock tune with stock pipe I ripped on this bad boy all season. From Washington to Colo to Revelstoke. All SORTS of elevations, riding conditions, weather conditions... I did it ALL on this machine this year and time after time this sled ran solid, cleanly and with all the extra fun that a big bore can provide!

This summer it looks like I will give her a little freshen up; probably no new top end needed since the last two seasons were a little light on mileage due to traveling 2 seasons ago and a light snow year this year. Just a refresher and we get prepped up for season 3 on this sweet build!
