I finally got a chance to swing a leg over a pair of pros. While I was very impressed with the way the chassis handled and reacted to my rider input, I was disappointed with the power.

The 2012 I tried had a Paragon secondary and SLP can, the 2011 was bone stock and actually seemed snappier than the 2012. Both were 163s.

In an uphill drag race, the 2011 PTek 154 with a Paragon and a can walked the Pro by 2-3 sled lengths.

I didn't get a chance to check the track speed in the heavy snow we were riding in. What track speed are these sleds pulling in set up spring snow?

Those results don't surprise me one bit. Especially in that type of snow. I would be willing to bet if you add about a foot of pow to the equation (or more) those results would probably change. Since I live in the Rockies, I can afford to be a snow snob most years. That is why I choose to ride my fantastically unreliable, underpowered, deeeeep snow flotation king. If I wanted to rip around at 100mph on spring snow...I wouldn't even snowmobile. I am scared of trails and anything much over 35 mph. I prefer to be full throttle and chugging around at about 15-20, but that's just me.:face-icon-small-hap

i don't think there is a whole lot of argument that the etec makes more power than the pro motor. but the handling is FAR superior on the pro. the 12 should have pulled the 11 all things being equal. many examples, personally also, of the 12s running noticeably stronger than the 11s. and everything i'm hearing (not from the internet) is the 13s are running "significantly" stronger than the 12s. (take that as you want) enjoy

What do (or should) the Pros pull for track speed in spring snow conditions like there has been the last week or two?

I can't believe all things were equal there, I've seen different results but who cares about a race. Think of this when talking HP How about hp to weight ratio. If the others are say 5 to 8 more hp but weight 50 lbs more, who will win the race, 2 equal sleds on the same snow, you weight 100 lbs and I weight 150 ( wish) who will win? just saying

I saw 47/48 when i rode the 2013.
Snow sucked. Hard set-up powder with 4 or 5" of fresh.

Track speed in wet heavy snow at 9,000' to 10,000' is 39 MPH with the Pro. Track speed with a 2011 e-tech in the same conditions is 41 MPH. I was riding with a cracker-azz (150 lbs) a couple weeks ago who was on a 2011 e-tech, I was riding my Pro 155 and weigh 225 with gear on. He would pull me by about 1 MPH across a high lake. In a highmarking situation we were marking within 2' of each other. I have seen the two sleds go head to head with equal weight riders for two seasons, they lake race very similar and the Pro outmarks the e-tech pretty badly. A well set-up Pro will run along side any other 800 out there, in 3' of fluff they really shine.

Thanks for the info and track speed comparisons.

727, you are right. There was a weight difference between the two riders. Unfortunately we didn't get them to swap sleds and try again.
