i am wondering what people have been running for carb setups for a stock piped viper at 5-7000 feet. i have a major bog coming off idle and im kinda up in the air on how to fix it.....seems like a lean bog....from idle if i just mash the throttle, it will just die....if i feather the throttle up to about 2500 rpm just under engagement and mash it its fine....runs great on the midrange and top end......so heres what ive got and what ive done....book calls for 148.8's, 50's and 2.5 on the clip at 2 turns ( ithink) on the fuel screws. i started at 145's 52.5's and clip in #2 with one shim under, at 2 on the fuel screw.....then went to 55 pilots at 2 turns.....no go.....so im thinking of just jumping to 60's and see what happens.....or raise the needle abit......but it runs nice and crisp on the midrange so id hate to lose that.....what you all think?

5000-6700 feet at 0 to 20 degrees F calls for

148.8 mains
50 Pilot
2.5 needle
2 5/8 turns on the fuel screw

might try to to turn the fuel screw out with the 50 pilots

maybe pull the choke, while it is bogging and see if it gets better or worse...that might tell if you are lean or fat

here is my deilema...i originally had this sled set up for 1000 ft......i was runnin 50 pilots to get rid of the lean bog and it was dialed in perfect.....so i dont think that there is any way that 50 pilots are gonna be rich enough for elevation....obviously the pilots need to be fatter at elevation than sea level....thats why i started at 52.5's and then 55's....i hear what youre saying about the choke and am going riding tomarow to try and get this thing figured out. thanks for the input.

viper jetting

heres the exact setup i used on my viper in montana and i worked great
this setup is from 5000 to 8000 feet. although i may run a little lean at exactly 5000 just flip the choke a few times to you get up in elevation
150 mains
50 pilots
2.5 on the needles
2 1/4 turns out on the fuel screws
air jets should remain stock
get rid of the stock helix for a multi-angle, big differnce
