iirc 19/45 is stock

i went to 20/45 to get a little more track speed when it was a 121" with a 685...worked really well for boondocking and spring time mountain riding. if i was ditch banging i might want to try a 21/43.

now it's a 155 and i am leaving the 20/45. if i can't get enough track speed i think i'll drop the bottom to 43.

I'm at 20/45. definately not a high speed trail machine, but that's not what it's built for. Unfortunately to get to the good stuff you gotta ride some road, I think I might drop to a 43 bottom see how that works.
This is on a '06 iqr bigblock 800 with a 156

do you have a speedo on your sled? i'm curious what track speeds iqr's are getting with the super low gearing...

No speedo unfortunately. Just have to go by the speeds I know I was doing on previous sleds I've owned. Last one was a d8 with 20/42 if I remember right. This one is obviously noticeably revving higher trying to keep up on the trail. The d8 would top out around 72 mph but it took a lot of flat road to get there

I know my sled about rips your arms off IF it ever hooks up but with the 121 on it it never wants to hook up at all. I am assuming it tops out around 60.

Any information on gearing for an 800, with a 144 track? I am still running stock gearing. To make higher track speeds, would I increase the top gear? Are the drivers 9 tooth on the race sleds?

my 05 iqr had [stock] 19/39 i used this for my 144x2 conversion pulled it no problem, sled speed with hand held gps[on a flat trail 8100 rpm] was 93 mph,i went to a 159x2 and could not get the clutches to open up so i went to a 19/41 so far it seems to be ok, i have not speed checked it yet, this is a ported, slp 05 800 moter, slp, pipe, can, stock head,v forse reeds, and there clutching.

i have 9 tooth extroverts on mine[stock] go larger on top gear or smaller on bottem gear to go faster[just the opposite to go slower]

iqr gearing

Im running the short track 1 3/4 still and switched from the stock 19/45s to 23/39s for some more topend when trail riding, 22/39s are stock 600rr gears and the 23/39s are stock switchback gears I had laying around and they worked ok with the stock 76p chain, although would have been better with a 74p, Just changed today so I haven't had a chance to ride it yet. might go to 20/39s if this doesn't work well only because I have one here, after all times are tough and sledding is a spendy sport, the stock gears couldn't keep up in the straight aways or railroad beds and I ride with all long tracks, hopefully this will work, also trying the stock blk/grn spring out of my D8, time will tell, But need some damn snow!
