There will be a public meeting regarding the revised Lassen N.F. Over Snow Vehicle Plan on Oct. 17 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Lassen NF Supervisors Office in Susanville.
This meeting is extremely important not only for snowmobilers on the Lassen NF, but also for snowmobilers on the Plumas, Tahoe, Stanislaus and El Dorado National Forests. The Lassen NF plan, if implemented, will determine restrictions which will also be used on the other four forests. So your involvement on the Lassen plan is critical.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, you can submit electronic comments through the FS website at https://cara.ecosystem-management.o...gement.org/Public//CommentInput?Project=45832

3-6 on a tues aint exactly encouraging attendance.

Folks should read SACs page on the matter..its a pisser. Heres a few quotes.

"...It became apparent that the Forest Service's decision is virtually identical to the non-motorized "Snowlands Lassen Proposal".* The FS are imposing a snow depth restriction of 12" for cross country (off trail) snowmobile travel, and designated 63,870 acres exclusively for non-motorized use.* These areas include historical high use snowmobiling areas."

"...The Lassen OSV Plan is the first to be done in the United States, so it will likely be used as a model for the rest of the National Forests in California and the nation.* So what happens on the Lassen is extremely important."
