Does anybody have a 2.62 top gear they would swap for a 2.52 or 2.17? This was off a 14 m8000.

Not to horn in but, I spoke with Tom about gearing and he said since I have 8 tooth drivers I should stay with the 25 tooth upper because the 8 tooth drivers gear you up a bit. However, I too am sill interested in trying a 26 tooth if anyone has one.

Sorry I've got a 28 and 29 I'm not using. We had them on some turbos we were using for grass drags. I've got the 26 on my 153 with 8 tooth drivers. and I love it. But I'm also at about 180hp. But on the stock sled I like the 25 much better.

My Pro Climb just has a SLP single pipe kit and MDS weights.

I have a 153" with a 3" Powerclaw and ride northern Idaho at 4-6,000 feet mostly.

Would you recommend a 25 or 26 tooth upper gear?

If you have the MTN cat kit your bottom gear is a 66 instead of a 63 so the 25 or 26 top gear might be different for you? I preferred the 2.52 on my big bigbore. I'm putting this kit on a friend's sled and he wants 2.62.

You are spot on, when talking gear ratio with the TKI kits need to be clear on what bottom gear you have, 63 vs 66 (17 MTN Cat and 18 setup for the lowered drive shaft). I've ran a TKI setup on both a 63 and 66 lower with 8 tooth drivers and prefer the 2.5 ratio. I tried 2.4 (27/66) on my 16 but the clutches ran hotter, wearing the belt faster. I really didn't see an improvement in track speed from the 2.5 (26/66) with a 3 inch track. There is so many variables that play into this; 8 tooth vs 7 tooth, 2.6" vs 3" track, 153 vs 162 track, rider weight and weight added to sled, type of snow, power mods, clutch modifications, etc. So can really very from one sled to the next. Personally I think 7 tooth drivers and a gear ratio of 2.63 is way to low. 2.63 and 8 tooth drivers work well on a stock machine, especially if you are on the upper end of the load range on the sled - 3" track, wet heavier snow conditions, higher rider weight and extras packed onto the sled.

Thanks for the great explanation guys!

I would have to go out and count again to be 100% certain but, I have written down that I have 25 upper and a tooth 66 lower on my 2015 Pro climb with the TKI mountain cat kit. When I do the math it says I have a 2.64 gear ratio with 8 tooth drivers.

Don't get me wrong, I think my sled works great but, I have just always read how a 2.52 or even 2.42 was the way to go with these kits and like anyone else, I hate to leave performance on the table.

You most likely have a 25; that is what TKI puts in the mtn cat kits. Probably the all around best ratio for a variety of conditions for mountain riding. On your 15 you could easily go to a 26 with little to no clutch changes and gain some track speed.
