I'm am considering a Ski Doo for the first time in my life and I want a 174 I am 6'2" 270 and want a sled that will hold up to my weight and not be hard on belts.

you won't be disappointed with the 850, and with all the track you have behind you and at your size, if $ aren't any issue, 850 hands down!

I'm 265# and the 800 174 gets me around pretty good. Next sled will be an 850 165 with a coupler though.

Buy a left over 174 and enjoy your ride, the 850's need more refinement IMO and quality control. Ill be keeping my 174 for awhile yet.

hopefully youre not buying a 174 tracked sled to race on hard trail. you wont be disappointed with a 850. my brother was in the same boat as you a month ago and was dead set on buying a 15 800 until he rode my 850 for just 10 minutes. I'm not saying anything bad about the 800 but the 850 is def much more forgiving and easier to ride. the suspension seems to work together with the power a bit better, the shape of the engine compartment allows the track to grab the snow rather then pack up if the snows wet at all, and although the hp isn't a huge difference it sure seems that the tq is. my .02

Up until couple weeks ago I had a 2014 Freeride with minor clutching and other improvements, and a 2013 Summit with a very well running 872 and other goodies. I was very happy with both sleds. Then I rode a friends 2018 850. I it put a huge smile on my face. Long story short I have sold my freeride and I am pick up my new 850 Wednesday.

If you get a "good" 850, there is no comparison to the 800. If you get a turd, you are screwed with horrible belt life and clutching issues. My 2016 800 sleds had DJ clutch kits and they ripped, but my 18 850 sleds are much much faster than the 16 sleds, in stock form. My 17 850 sleds were horrible. They were slow, they ate belts, and they were not fun to ride, for those reasons.
