About 20 years ago, I ran into my first turbo sled on Togwatee Pass. I was blown away. Back then there was basically one kit builder. Until 2009-10 we built all our own parts. We messed with airbox design, charge tube size, you name it we tried it. I probably have a few tricks no one has even thought of.

At that point it started to get simpler. We started installing Boondocker kits. Every year they have been consistent, best customer service, reliable, and a blast to ride. Every year it seems they kick it up a notch. New tech, better fit and finish, and now their own turbo.

A couple months or so on a rainy day, I sat down in my office and filled out the application for the Boondocker athlete/ambassador program. I am very excited to announce I have been selected to represent Boondocker Performance and Dakota Mod Shop.

My role and plan will be different than most. A lot of the Ambvassadors will be running the new Patriot 850 this year. I will be doing a build up on the Axys 800ho I purchased last year. We will be updating the Boondocker kit along with the entire sled. I will be running both Sidekick level boost and high level boost through out the year.

Build pics, tech tips, ride info, 850 demo info will be here and on my Facebook athelete page. It is going to be a fun year!!!

To kick it off, I am doing the first of a few give aways. If you like this post I will throw your name in the hat for a BD shirt/hat combo. If you like my FaceBook athlete page, I will throw it in the SW hat twice. I am giving away combos on SW and FB.

Here is the link to my FB page.

I will answer any questions I can about past and present Boondocker Kits.
Thank you, let’s have a fun and safe year.

My main build pics will probably come here. This is my "roots". I have to text Scott about 2x a day.. with questions on how to do things on FB.

The build will not be revolutionary by any means. Just swapping parts out, but I have some parts coming from Skinz that have not been seen yet. I am totally excited about that.

IndyDan did up the top end and clutches.
TRS will be clutching guidance
TKI for gearing.
Going to run a 3" for the first time.
Backwoods BMP and Rogue Concepts for bumpers.
FNI vents
Where You At Wraps to finish it all up.

Nothing crazy, just solid performance.

Boost. The little devil says I should let it eat, and turn it up. Common sense says just running pump gas sounds alright too.

Dakota Mod Shop has a Patriot 850 and Alpha. Sounds like I will be able to take those occasionally for demo purposes. It will be fun to throw them in the mix and see how they perform, and to see other riders reactions.

I am always excited about riding, but this year I am just chomping at the bit. My body seems to be falling apart right now, so hopefully I can hold up. Hard enough keeping up with my crew, be even worse if I am not in top shape.

I will post up some 850 build pics when I get a chance. If you guys have any questions on the new Patriot 850 kit, post em up. I will answer the best I can, and if I can not answer, I will find the answer.

So this is my project "victim"

*2016 163" with belt drive, about 700 miles. Boondocker Sidekick, Burandt Floats and Zbroz stock width arms. Nice sled just needs some tweaks.

Last spring I:
Changed motor mounts
Yanked the head light
Threw a handlebar bag on
Maintained sled
Altered clutching
Changed to Pro Gears.

First thing this fall was the top end. We travel anywhere from 10-16 hours to ride. I like to stay on top of things.

I had Indy Specialties freshen up the top end, plus do the 18 head mod. Stock 15 pistons. I am excited to compare mine to the other guys in my crew with long rod motors. The long rod may be on the to do list for next year.

I also have Indy Specialties prepped primary and secondary. This is a must!!

"Going to give the 850 thermo a try on a ‘12 turbo as soon as they are available. Replacing the BRP setup."

I was thinking along the same lines after seeing what IS was doing. Curious in the difference compared to the BRP setup.

I am a turbo newbie, from the same neck of the woods as you - hour north. Will be running a BD water to air kit on a '14 Pro this year. The chassis is currently stripped bare going through pre-season maintenance. I may need to reach out for a pointer from time to time.

Wrap teaser....

Pretty excited for it to show up. Jared @ Where You At Wraps did a great job of taking my thoughts and spinning them to a wrap. I hope the wrap is as good of quality as my experience has been so far!!!

The name on the windshield is Russian, and its the name of the sled... :face-icon-small-sho
