I've been wondering for awhile now and just need some advice on what you guys would do.
I have a 2000 RMK 800 136" (4200 miles) sitting in the garage, Boss seat (needs redone), SLP Pipe and Can (taken off but still have). I took everything out of the engine bay but the engine and coolant system, the track and Xtra-Lite are sitting in front of the sled.
I cant decide whether to.....
A. Tear rest of sled down and Powdercoat the tunnel with a 151" extension, 151" Iceage Rails with 8" wheels, 154"x16" Maverick, SLP Powder Pros, Boost Bottle, Re-do the Boss seat i have, lots of various other small parts and powdercoating. For a total of $3000 not including the sled (steal for $1000:)
OR
B. Buy a 2006 Arctic Cat M7 153" EFI for $4250 OBO (1800 miles)
C. Buy a Ski-Doo Summit 800R 151" for $4800 OBO (2300 miles)
D. Buy a Arctic Cat King Cat 900 162" for $4500 OBO (2500 miles)
Now, if I do the RMK then ill have a sled that is how i want it, but is old and out dated. The other sleds are newer and i like the way the Narrower Taller sleds handle (im 5'10" and 165#). My friends have Rev, Nytro and one is snowchecking a Pro 155" this spring and i want to keep up with them. I had this sled a couple winters ago and put a 151" on it and it was great, but sold it due to school. I know eventually ill put that $3000 (if not more) into the newer sled.
Im just looking for advice. If you had a $4500 budget (after you sold the RMK) or $3000 (if you keep the RMK).

Your sled will be worth the same no matter how much money to throw at it. I'm in the same situation. Only buy a 05 or 06 REV! 2 friends with 07's have rebuilt due to cranks multiple times each. I'd sell it and go with a 05 rev or the m7.

budget of $4500?? you have to be careful spending money on an old sled. Maybe if your old sled was closer to being a runner. Unless you can do a bunch of mods for $800, not 2K. you still have an $1800 sled when it's in good shape regardless of mods. Probably one of those middle choices is your best move.

I have a 1m 900 right now, crazy power! easy to get 175 hp with bolt ons. If I was in your situation though I would go with the M 7 for sure. best all around sled by far! The new foward stance sled is a LOT easier on your body at the end of the day and makes for a funner ride. The 900 takes alot to move. Your old sled is going to have a tough time keeping up with technology of a newer sled.

i would get the sled you have ported with a team clutch and add a 50 hp shot of nos mine goes everywhere and more than alot of the new sleds about the only thing that beats it would be a turbo sled and thats a maby i havent had a chance to run against one yet and twin pipes drop and roll the chain case and put a 166X2.4 track on it once dialed in it will probaly take you places you dont want to be but thats just my opinion the new pro rmks are nice too
