So my diamond drive exploded the other day and im trying to take it out/apart to see what i need for parts. I have the secondary off and the outer cover that holds the two gears. Ive read that i need to take the long bolt out from the brake side but there doesnt seem to be a bolt head in the shaft... if anyone has taken out a DD of this sled your help would be greatly appreciated! Pictured attached hard to see but what you think is/should be a bolt inside the shaft is not.

looks like the bolt is missing.
undo all the bold holding it in and take 2 pry bars and start working it off the bulkhead. this is the row of bolts just outside of the T30 bolts used to hold the cover on.

You mean from the brake side right? Gear side would be the DD SIDE.

You are correct... The bolt is on the gear side... but you access it from the brake side. Some of my DD's popped right off... others required some swearing and bleeding. After that many years, it could put up a good fight! :face-icon-small-hap

Unless you're pulling the track leave the brake and everything in place the diamond Drive can come out without taking all that out

You can even rebuild it in the sled as long as the output gear which is the one attached to the drive shaft and the output gear bearing aren't damaged you can rebuild everything else from the other side

I thought the bolt requied a 16 mm socket. I could be wrong.

Make sure you loosen the track as it makes removing the dd easier.

Make sure you remove all of the nuts holding dd to tunnel. The ones toward the rear take a little more attention to make sure you get them all. You need to remove the perforated metal piece on the footwell before you can remove the dd.

we always use a 5/8 on them either way if something came apart you need to pull the whole thing

Should add in, if the DD hasn't been removed in a long time yhe output shaft might be seized into the drive shaft. I had a really hard time getting it out because of this. I removed the brake side and was hammering the drives haft towards the brake side with a dead blow hammer.
