Look at how many active users are on the site compared to the record number this last January. Does anybody ever remember the site being so slow??? Less traffic but still crawling...WHY?

In part it is becasue we are not alone on this server.
Its being shared by a dozen other sites.

Thanks Christopher. I know you are trying to improve this site, but you may loose members/participation in the mean time. It is so slow some evenings that if it wasn't for all the good info on here, I'm sure many would choose another site. Push the new servers......
One way or the other, my goal is to have a resolution to the problem next week.
Somehow we have to get some SERIOUS new servers brought in. Right now its just a money issue that is stopping us. What we need simply isn't cheap.

I have used a cloud in the past, and still do for very certain specific applications.
But for what we need on SnoWest it really isn't a good solution.
Best guess right now is that we are headed toward a matched pair of Dell PowerEdge R905 Rack Servers.

4 Six Core Opteron 8435 CPUs in them.
This would give us the ENORMOUS additional overhead we will need for some of the very cool things that are coming to SnoWest that have not yet been announced to the general members.
But for what we need on SnoWest it really isn't a good solution.

But the server issued has put everything on hold till we figure this out.
There is no shortage of very good servers out there today.Dell?? well there is your problem right there. Everybody knows that HP servers is where its at
