There is one BIG CHANGE in the new 2013 Trail Tank that every user will be VERY HAPPY ABOUT!

Now it uses OEM Yamaha Hood and side panel fasteners.
The Thumb Screws are GONE!

Also has a deeper channel for the MCX fuel return hose that also is a nice improvement.

Wanted to post a followup comment on the new Trail Tank's use of the OEM Yamaha DZUS.

The standard part that comes on all Yamaha sleds to hold on all body panels is

Yamaha P/N: 3FV-28386-00-00 Dzus (Silver 14mm)
<table border="1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2"><tbody><tr style="font-weight: bold;"><td colspan="2" rowspan="1" style="font-family: Arial; background-color: rgb(204, 204, 204);">Dzus Bolts Specs & Drawing
</td> </tr> <tr> <td style="text-align: center; font-family: Arial;">
Dzus%20-%20Panex%20-%20D-ring%20Drawing.jpg

</td> <td style="font-family: Arial;">
Additional Dzus Bolt Specs / Info

(L) Working Length: 14mm
Shaft Length : 17mm

Grip Range: 5.5mm to 7.4mm
Maximum Grip with out washers
Minimum Grip using 2 washers

Minimum bodywork Hole size: 7.2mm
English: 9/32nd Inch
</td></tr></tbody></table>
I have found over the last month that in order to get this OEM part to work I MUST use a Flathead Screwdriver on some of the mounting points to PUSH the Dzus deep enough into the hole for it to get a good bite. This is because of the depth of the mount in the Trail Tank.

Yesterday I found a better solution.!!

Polaris makes a near identical part, but with a shaft length 1-2mm longer.
Polaris - 7661969 - STUD-1/4 TURN 6MMX16MM

Whats more, the retail is nearly HALF of what Yamaha gets for the same item.

Trail tanks for Nytro

I have put lots of these tanks on honestlly they fit poorlly but they do hold enough fuel for a full days ride. You will hate the screw in fasitners for the side panels.

Thanks for the updates Chris, this has all been ETREMELY helpful!!!

I will now be ordering and installing one of these new Trail Tanks for my Nytro as well, especially knowing they now utillize the stock Yamaha hood fasteners!

Quick question though, with this tank on do you or anyone else notice if the fuel guage is still relatively accurate? ie: 1/2 tank shown on the fuel guage is actually 1/2 tank/half range for the machine? Not a big deal, but I'm curious.

To be honest I have NEVER run this thing down to empty yet.
The extra volume has allowed me to play all day long and NOT go dry.
So I am not entirely sure.
I suspect there is MORE gas left than indicated, but I can't confirm.

2 and 1/2 years ago I installed the Trail Tank on my Nytro.
Today, for the very first time I saw the YELLOW Low Fuel Lite come on!!

OEM Tank = 7.4 Gallons.
Trail Tank = 10.1 Gallons
Net Extra Fuel = + 2.7 gallons or 36% more gas.

This finally gave me an opportunity to calibrate my gauge with the actual amount of fuel I had in the tank!

1 bar, Lite Triggers, Appx 2 Gallons Remaining
2 bar, 3.2 gallons
3 bar, 4.2
4 bar, 5.1
5 bar, 6.2
6 bar, 7.1
7 bar, 8.1
8 bar, 8.9
Full to top. 10.1 Gallons

I ran my sled down to 0.6 gallons with one bar still displayed and the yellow warning light lit.
