In a forest, somewhere in Alberta
I just got an 07 800R 159" with 900 miles. Just need to know about any gremlins other than the clutching & motor problems ( updates have already been completed) . What RPM should this thing be running @ WOT @ 2000'-2500' ? The clickers are set at # 2 on the primary. Also, what is the best can for this sled ? I am thinking of going with a Dynoport big barker. I ride a lot in the mountains 3000' to 10000'+ so something with the proper calibration and no loss of Hp would be preferred. Thanks Lads. Happy New Year! Stef.

The 07 summits are a great machine which got a bad rap because of bad clutching and some crank bearing problems, but if set up properly they run really hard ( as for the engine most 800r engines once with a few miles on them are fine ) They should run at 8400 rpm for max power ( green line on your tach )

If your sled has 900 miles you should be in the clear as far as engine problems, they trypically happen quickly. There are 4 '07's i our group and not a single problem. We had our clutches working good before the updates, but they are even a bit better with the updates.
For your altitude, run the 44/40, 160/320 primary spring and 16g of weight, click up to 4-5. They just run better when you add weight and run on clicker 4-5, trust me.
Also, if you do alot of climbing then definatly gear down to 19/47, when you ride the higher altitudes go with a 44/36 helix. You can also run the 44/36 down low with a bit more primary weight. Stock settup is just "OK" at best.
The HPS silencer is the best out there IMO. :beer;

Does the 160/320 work better then a 160/350 on a 159, if so how much pin weight for Cooke City.

I agree 19/47 gearing works the best in 07 summits and the 44/36 helix is the best choice.Pull off your secondary and look on the back of the helix for this # wouldn't doubt it if the updates were done it already has this helix if your warranty guy is an avid mountain rider.hps does make a good can, but the dyno port works good also,jaws has a good one to.
