Right now the 14 is about 50 pounds heavier than the poo, and 30 plus more than cat, and 10 plus more than yami's new viper?

What gives? I know weight is not end all, my favorite sled right now is a tnytro, and its heavy, but I owned a 09 xp and they were about 460 to 470, and then just have gotten heavier now, to the point they are arguably 500 plus pounds again. I mean, really?

Looking at getting a current model chassis, and really wanted an xm, but they are heavy comparitively speaking. Ive had 450 pound sleds, and the biggest advantage in my opinion is getting unstuck......I go places and have to depend on myself getting unstuck, the nytro isnt so good for that, and 500 pound sleds seem just as heavy at times when stuck.

I know the issues with poo and the 800 engines, but sounds like an incredible machine. AC 8? Solid powerplant but have mixed reviews about chassis?

Also looking for something that is easy to boost in the future.

So, I may end up withan xm, or xp , because I simply love the chassis, but the wieght is a concern for me, 50 pounds is a lot, regardless of whether or not it will still climb the highest.

So, isnt anyone else bothered by the weight?

a weee bit off on your weights the doo is a few lbs heavier than the cat like 3 or somthing, not far off. but both are 45lbs ish heavier than the poo poo. if yami was that light i would imagine most would be on one lol

Here are one of the sources, I can't find the one where people were bringing their sleds into a shop and they were being weighed wet, without fuel.

http://www.snowest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=370536&highlight=summit+weight

The other source was a fellow weighing sleds in his shop, on a certified scale, wet, no fuel. I cant find the link, but I looked on here for a couple hours researching, trying to gather good data. The 13 xm was 598 full of fuel, which would put its wet weight around 524!!! I understand the 14s are lighter, but just sub 500?

I know my weights are not perfect, but the fact remains that doo weights about 45 to 50 pounds more, guess it doesnt seem to bother folks anymore.

If 91 octane fuel is 5.91 - 6.42 lbs per gallon

If 2 stroke oil is 1.8lbs per quart

If a 50/50 mix of antifreeze is 8.99 lbs per gallon....

163
Dry weight...................459.00
Fuel(10.6x6.165)............65.35
Oil (3.9x1.8).................. 7.02
Coolant(2x8.99)..............17.98

549.35

I am guessing at the coolant (2 Gallons) and not adding anything for shock oil.

I can't run numbers for the 2015 cat and yammi....because the manufacturer doesn't list dry weight.

The Poo list a dry weight of 424lbs in a 163. I couldn't find any fluid capacities for the Poo, so i will estimate the wet fluids equal with the Doo.

424 plus 90.35....514.35, or 35 lbs lighter than the Doo...

Sled Rumors.com estimated the wet weight of the Viper to be 600lbs...I still can't find a Manufacter dry weight for either Cat or Yammi. MY thought is IF the Cat was lighter than the Doo, Cat would be crowing about it...

You cant depend on manufacture weights, very rarely in the last 20 years of me sledding have the numbers been spot on. 30 pounds lighter being Iisted
wasnt uncommon, and apparately, still is.

Yamaha still needs a turbo to even be considered, wet shop weights has the least amount of variables to consider so I think is still the best weight comparison. Snow build up is very different between each brand but still can be so different through out the day to make a comparison. That being said Yamaha is now under 100lbs difference nice to see.

To quote the early 2,000's...That is some fuzzy math man. The doo is in the middle with Poo first and Cat last. Quality comes at a price. Then put it on the same weight platform as a Viper....Seriously? Have you ever ridden a Nitro? Same difference.
If it helps they don't ride heavy but a YamahCat does.

I don't buy into the extra weight on the Pro. I did add a wrap to the tunnel which keeps the snow off but I never get the buildup that AC claims I do. That's a desperate effort to make a sled "seem" heavier.

Why does everyone make such a big deal on the weight of these sleds? it doesn't matter what you ride they are all heavy when stuck!!

I agree, there is a couple Pro's in my group and I would say they hold little more snow then the others but no where near what the video shows. Snow in are area is pretty dry tho.

Ok this is only my opinion! I have a 13 pro with MTNTK turbo and a 13 stock XM, I love both sleds it has been a very fun season on both machines but throughout the season I have been in situations that I had to roll both sleds over on the hill when getting stuck and every time I have been in this situation the XM has felt much lighter when rolling over. Again, only my opinion I think jumping the XM is easier and feels lighter also. Take it for what it's worth...pick the sled that most suits you in your riding style and have fun out there because this season is almost over :(... I guess I will have to go ride my dirtbike and water ski until that magic powder starts falling from the sky again :face-icon-small-coo
