Lots of opinions here but in my mind only run OEM and make sure to break in the new belt the right way and clean your clutches as much as possible

OEM 391 is best IMO as well but Gates makes a good belt for less $ and a better warranty.
We have run the gates with similar results as the 391.
You might need a slight pin weight change with the gates. The Gates might pull your RPM down a bit.






The part # is 49C4266. You can find them on Ebay for $90ish.

My experience has been the 391 (harder) & 288 (medium hardness) belts don't come apart while both of the Gates I've had haven't made it over 500 miles without delaminating. Performance is good with all of them if pin weight is dialed. I've pulled cords & worn the BRP belts thin but they haven't blown/delaminated.
