Well my lil 93 sport 440 fan finally died today. The bottom end went, this leads me to my question.

I have access to a 488 fan, will it drop right in place of the current motor? I noticed it takes the same crank unless I read wrong:face-icon-small-con

Anyhelp appreciated.

I put a 1986 488 Trail Indy engine into a 1991 440 Sport GT chassis and into a 1994 440 Super Sport Chassis. The only issue was that the 488 engine pulled a P-85 drive system while the 440's drove a P-90 drive system, the two drive systems are not the same. So, put the P-90 drive clutch from the 440 on the 488 engine. Also, we found that the 440 pipes worked. Our 488 engine used its carbs, not the 440's - a bit different. Have fun the swap is doable.

Thanks guys, I figured the clutch and carbs might be different. Hopin to do the swap this weekend!!!

On a sidenote, just pulled the old motor apart tonight. Appears a main bearing let go as I had suspected. 7500 miles and we never touched a thing on the motor, so i think it did pretty good. LOL!

Well got my parts sled saturday. Fired the 488 in the sport. I used everything off the old motor, including the carbs. It seems to work good so far. I dont get the motor mount plate though, it seems the motor is moved a inch ahead on the 488 for some reason.

got some fancy pics of my parts sled imma load up monday, it has a crazy track extension on it and is worth a gander.
