800R PTek Engine Failure

Hey guys, just had a meltdown on my 2007 Summit 800R engine (same as 08+ carb models) at 2600 miles. Was up in the mountains and it started popping and farting on me so I immediately turned back and made it back to my pickup. By the time I got there it was running very poorly and smoking like a freight train. Pulled the top end off and found this:

Funny thing was I couldn't find an evidence of what exactly was pounding around in the top end. Spark plugs were intact, all of the ring is still there, rave valves look good. Maybe it just leaned out? Could it be an oiling problem? Once I had the pistons off I poked around in the bottom end with a magnet and was picking up fine pieces of metal. So it looks like the engine is coming out of the sled.

I'm an automotive technician by trade but have never torn down/rebuilt a sled motor. I'm guessing I should be looking at a new crank/seals/pistons/head/cylinder replate? Also considering parting out the sled and calling it a season. Just curious what some of you more experienced guys would be doing in this situation.

Looks like the locating pin came out of the ring and hammered the head and piston. Might want to think about parting it out. I have an 07 xrs and I sent my motor off to Sledhead racing had him fix the case because 07's were famous for bad cranks, put in new crank and complete rebuild and it cost me about $1800. You on the other hand are going to need a head, cylinder, and then a complete rebuild, your looking at well over 2g for all that if you do the work. Post it here in the skidoo section sleds for sale and part it out is my thinking. You'll make some money on it and go buy a newer sled and enjoy. Let me know what kind of skis you have I'm looking for some for my 07

PTO side...

so I'm gonna call crank seal. Have you ever blown a belt so bad you had to pull the cords out from behind the clutch? Maybe cracked carb boot. I don't think the retaining pin can come out. Not unless it runs into an open port... but I don't think it does.
