I have a '09 800 summit x 146
Last year I got 1 awesome ride with boysens and team setup and then the last ride of the season it would only get 7900 rpm.sled has team clutch, boysen reeds, the valves are clean, boots are good.I took the heads off,the cylinders were scoured ,had
them renicasiled, new SPI pistons.Sled starts good, runs good but 7900 rpm.
was running 16.4 grams, took all the screws out and still 7900 rpm.tried a
clutch from differnt sled, same thing.any ideas ??

Sled should run 8100 to 8300. Check you rave valves make sure they are moving... Last yr after mine sat all summer I had dpm and rave valve solinoid issues. Take the caps of the valves start sled they should suck in and back out. Also check clutches. Rebuild every 1000 miles to keep it running good

When was the last time you rebuildt your clutches? You should replace you springs every season cause they do pack out. I did not do it one season an had the same thing going on chasing rpm issues.

Said he swapped out clutches and tried another. Check the belt?

DPM could be sticking also.

He said clutch. So I just figured he tried the primary. The secondary spring on the team is pretty tight. They get sacked out fast, I change every fall along with primary springs.

Your DPM valve could be stuck. That happened to my brother inlaw, he just diconnected it and sprayed some wd40 in it and took a needle and pushed it open now it pulls all the r's again.

I've been told that the throttle cable needs to be kept tight. not just tight enough to pull the slides wide open. something like just a 1/16" of play at the flipper
