......helping out a friend with a 97 powder special 580EFI. Need to get the primary clutch off, is it just pull the recessed bolt out of the center and install the required puller tool and tighten down until it pops off?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!!

Its best to do with a impact, when running in puller just run it tight, don't go to far but run it up and then smack the end of the puller with a hammer and it should pop right off. If that doesn't work let us know.

The center bolt taks a 1/2" 12 point socket. Grease the threads and the tip of the puller bolt and when it gets tight tap the puller sideways. This will usually pop them off without worrying about bearings and seals being damaged. If it is real stubborn you may have to wrap the threads of the puller with teflon tape, tip the sled on its side and pour a little water in the center hole and then put the bolt in a tighten it. Hydraulic pressure usually works even on the most stubborn clutch. They can be tight!

If you cant find a puller just do what diggerdown said and put the sled on the side and pour some liquid (oil, hot water... what ever you have) down the bolt hole on the crankshaft, wrap the threads of the clutch bolt with teflon tape and run the bolt back in. the hyraulic pressure you put on the fluid when you run the bolt in with the teflon tape on will be plenty to get it off. works awsome but sounds like a bomb goes off when it comes free

Ok... REALLY?! Because I am TOTALLY puller-less here and have been stuck with a shi*ty clutch.
