I am going to start building a sled deck for my F-250. Im wondering if anyone who has done this will share some tips and maybe a couple pics? Im tired of dragging around a trailer.:beer;
Anybody build their own sled deck?

Had a friend who did one, had the skinny atv or dirt bike ramps and just ran 6 of the across his truck bed and bolted them on, then he got a fold up ramp and set it up aginst the side of the truck and ran em up there, he could fit 2 on a long bed

aluminum works great but steel is fine. either way for sure build the ramp out of aluminum (makes life much easier verses a heavy steel ramp).

I have the plans/blueprints to building one somewhere... i will try to find them and post them if I do.
Been planning on building a flatbed on my truck that operates about like that, but a but more heavy-duty since it`ll be the bed too, will also have pull out ramp.
I built one 2 weeks ago out of steel. I have the plans and can email them to you if your interested.
Only thing I would change next time is a shorter platform, and a shallower beavertail.
$400 in steel, 3 spools of wire, plywood and paint. Your probably not going to build it for under $700 in material, and it took me and my father 2 days.

A couple buddies and I built one two winters ago. It works great, the only thing I would change is build it out of aluminum next time because its not light. We figured about 8 hundred bucks into it by they time everything was on there like tie downs and lights and things. Here are some pictures of ours, maybe that will get some ideas flowing for ya. You can see in the first picture where we made the ramp slide in just below the platform, and then the door we made in the beavertail in the second pic to get the ramp in and out. It works pretty well.

Got some ideas! Keep em coming!!! The aluminum rout might be a little spendy for me and i dont have an aluminum welding set up for my welder. So far like i said i got some good ideas!

I dont mind having a trailer and it fits my needs...............
I did see one that had telescoping sides so it could all slide back to regular width. Seemed to work pretty slick ?

make yours out of one by 2 not 2 by 2 like mine 1x1 ramp worked great

What thickness tubing did you use? Anybody have any plans for building a crane? Something else you might want to think about.

did you make a build list of all the stuff that you used to make your deck? I think that I like yours best so far. I suck at welding, but I have a friend that's a welder that owes me a favor....

I built this one for my rig a few years ago. It folds up if you are only hauling one sled.

I built mine last fall. Its steel because I don't have anything to weld aluminium.
I staggered the uprights midway up to allow for a wider ramp. I also built the beavertail and ramp hooks so that the ramp can no slide sideways when the ramp is positioned to either side or centered.
PS: an old plastic bedliner makes affordable ski slides!

what kind of hinge did you use so the sides can fold up...or am i just seeing things

Those are weld on bullet hinges from the local industrial shop. The ones I used have grease nipples, but they are available without them.
I have drawn plans. If anyone is interested, just pm me with your email adress.
