Aero charger maintenance

How do you make a aerocharger last?
Besides don't build big boost.
Can you you lube the vanes and push rod before storage so they don't seize?
Need to clean rust from pipe after storage.

Some hm turbo sleds out there for sale. A friend has one they run great. But I know of turbo issues on aero's.
Or just stay away?

I had a 53 series on a 600 for 2000 miles. It just died at that point. The simple answer is get a 66 series turbo (bigger size) if you go that route. The reason is the aerocharger does well as long as you do not over spin the turbo. That is not simply boost dependent. Higher elevation reduces density and increases shaft speed to deliver the same mass flow. If you keep an 800 in the 10 to 12 psi range you should be fine with a 66. A 53 series would seize the bearings much past 7 psi on an 800 if sustained for enough miles. I have helped pull several 800 53 series sleds out running 8 psi. The 800 just flows too much for that little turbo.

In short, maintain moderate boost and change the oil annually. To know more, call aerocharger. Nobody knows more than them. Except maybe Steve packer from turbo doc in Ogden utah.
