2002 Polaris 500 Edge X Crank Bearing Question

I am rebuilding my 2002 500 Edge X and I have a question regarding the orientation of the snap ring that is located on one of the main bearings. Does the opening on the snap ring need to line up with the groove circled below that runs horizontal between the cross shaft and the mag half of the crank? Wasn’t sure if it needed to be that way for lubrication. The manual doesn’t state anything about orientation of that clip.. Does anyone know the purpose of this groove?

No it doesn't matter where that gap is oriented. There isn't any lubrication that happens through the bearing surfaces, if there was the bearing would slip. The ring is the thrust washer.

Don't worry about the orientation.
