Thought I would add this, so we would have a place to check current conditions. Looked at a couple web cams and does not look good:face-icon-small-fro Shot is from Bergland Bay Bar.

West end of U.P. got 12-16 inches of snow on Sunday night. went for a ride yesterday trails were great, woods were ok but there still is a bottom to it. a great way to ring in new year after not having snow.

Riding was good on 5th around Bergland but by the 6th the snow was melting like crazy with 42 degree day temps and around 33 overnite temps.

We rode from Mass City to Michigamme on the 6th and riding was great in the morning but by 11 we were dodging huge mude holes and rocks everywhere.

Also found the groomer who busted through the trail a couple times making some rather large mud holes for us!

By end of the day conditions were horrible so we cut our trip a day short.

went up to Houghton this weekend. they need snow pretty bad. The trails are fairly bare until south of South Range. We rode to Twin Lakes and were able to find decent snow off trail. Still quite a few stumps uncovered but the snow was pretty packy this weekend so it will make a good base. So basically Twin Lakes area is OK but not great. Logging roads are OK but straight through the woods is still pretty sketchy.

Pic from Sunday around noon between Twin Lakes and South Range.

Anyone know how the snow conditions are in the Hurley/Ironwood area? Have a trip planned for this coming weekend and want to make the long drive worth the while.

Thanks!

Keweenaw conditions...

So the snow has really consolidated over the weekend. We had over the hood conditions friday but by sunday (today) things settled out alot...You can ride loggin roads no prob. But beware of the mystery stumps.. Twin lakes area is best around here for sure. We found excellent turns all weekend. We r supposed to get another dose of snow so do your dances...

Going to Houghton this weekend, How is the snow looking????

The LES events have continued making the snow excellent for riding. Ur gonna wanna get up to at least south range and ride south if your into off trail riding. Best snow has consistently been in the toivola twin lakes area... U can always just leave your sled at the mosquito and drive up there in the morning if your staying in houghton... That might actually be my suggestion. If ur a trail guy u can just head out from wherever and the trails seem to be holdin together well..
