i'm looking to get a extra 10 skid for a wedge project i ran across a skid for a 96 storm but was'nt sure what years where what i've been told i don't want extra12 for powder any help would be great thanks garth
( if you got a 133 or 121 skid laying around pm me)

Best way I can describe it, is the Xtra 10 rear skid has large blocky areas on top of the rear rail for the coupling stops. The rear scissor compresses down until it stops on the rubber bumper then the front suspension kicks in to "couple" the front and rear for the remainder of the travel.

This is a 1999 700 RMK rear skid (Xtra-10) installed into the 1994 XLT. You can kind of see that the Xtra-10 is bulkier than the Edge rails on my 2005.

The Xtra-12 has dual coil over shocks in an A-frame configuration, plus it has an extra set of idlers up in the tunnel. It looks heavy because it is.

I would venture a guess that they came online about 96 and were in use at least in the RMK's through 1999. I'm not sure what the applications were for the short tracks since they sold a ton of those.

I didn't care for the Xtra-10 since it was heavier and I didn't like how it transferred weight. The Xtra-Lite / Edge rear skid allows you to pop the front of the sled up easier which makes it feel a lot more nimble. I guess the Xtra-10 would be a decent trail skid where it has the ability to couple the front and rear to help absorb huge bumps.

One quick way to tell if it's an xtra 12 is that the xtra 12 has larger mounting bolts. The mounting bolts are 7/16 instead of 3/8 (the bolt heads are 5/8 instead of 9/16).

The xtra lite is a nice skid, but as the name implies, it's not very ruggedly built. I put one on my wife's sled and it's a nice improvement over the 133 xtra 10 that was in it before.

I've never seen a 136 xtra lite though, I've only seen 144. They only made them for a couple of years. Anybody ever seen a 136 xtra lite?

The 2000-2001 RMK's should have had them (Xtra-Lite 136). Not sure what else, but I think they went to the Edge version of the rear skid in 2002. I'm guessing on this as it could be model and year dependent as they didn't always change over all components across all motor sizes in a single year.
