Last season I ran a BD 2863 Tial, with intercooler. Ran about 11-12lbs on 50/50, set-up by Carl's Cycle. Turbo and sled worked flawlessly!! On the same sled this season; only thing I am changing is the new muffler and air intake. Can't wait to get back on her!!
Whats your opinion on the 2863 vs the 2860? Have you tried running more than 12lbs? I talked with BD and the Utah snow show and they seem to think the 2863 is not as good as the 2860 at high altitude. This has me confused because the 2863 flows more than the 2860?

They're talking spool up wise, A bigger turbos lag will be less noticeable at lower altitudes, where the smaller turbo will spool pretty fast at high altitude. Jared told me at Haydays they like to recommend the 2863 for anything at 8,000' and lower and the GTX2860 for 8,000' and up because they feel the 2863 is a little more laggy at the higher altitude.

I have run a 2860 in the past, but not a Tial. I think the 2863 with Tial spools just a ood as the non-Tial 2860. I ran the 2863 last year in Elko, NV at 9,000ft+ and had no problems. I would base it off of two thins, altitude and how much boost you want to run. If you are 10,000ft and up ALL the time, maybe the 2860 is better. If you want to run 10lbs or less, I would probably recommend the 2860 as well. I ride 6000-9000ft and like 11-12lbs so the 2863 has been perfect for me. Never tried more boost....didn't really seem to need it.

I just bought one too, 2014 kit 2860, for my 2012 pro 163,so excited. I am also curious as to many things, like
-do I gut the airbox, and add an air intake by gauge, and other venting
-do I do a headlight delete to save power consumption for the turbo.
-What boost works good on 25% race gas, what type, what weights come with kit, do I need adjustable weights, all that stuff.

I have quite a bit mechanical experience, just totally a newbie to turbos, have a lot of learning to do.

I got the same call yesterday:face-icon-small-hap getting excited! Actually just excited to ride period.

There much snow out there? Erik said they need a little, but suppose to get some next couple days.

I think today and tomorrow would be fine for testing. I know Erik wanted to take mine out before I went out with him because he wasn't sure how the long rod was going to work and clutching might be different. Either way its going to be like watching paint dry waiting to get the call that's its ready.

Well took the turbo out for its premier along with 3 other Vohk built sleds on Saturday and all of them were awesome machines. The snow conditions for mid November were awesome and Erik knows how to push you and the sled to its potential.

Overall if the sled runs this good all season, I will be very impressed. Minor changes throughout the day, but that seemed to be the case for breaking in everyones new machine. Erik goes into every step of why his setup works as good as it does.

Iceman was along with his 2014 163 turbo and it was a beast.

Here are a couple shots I got.
