'18 Primary clutch recall?

there was a clutch recall on the 2018 MC 800 (and possibly M800) Early Builds (released in feb of 2017.) mine was replaced in october after i had about 200 miles on it.
someone can correct me if i'm wrong but I think all snowchecks and in season sleds came with the updated clutch.

As far as I know there have been 2 failures that have shown up on Facebook. I think the guys are related. I know of a lot of 2018 sleds that are just fine. They replaced the clutches on the Early Build 800s, but even those I have not heard of any actual failures.
Social media quickly blows things out of proportion. Think back before the internet and there would only be about 10 people that would have heard of it, but now 10,000 per second.
Don't worry about the problem until it arises. Then fix it.

Looks like this is slowly becoming a bigger issue. Caleb Kesterke blow his at 1300. This one only had 625 miles on it. Guy checked it after watching his buddy blow his the day before. This was a snowcheck machine. Image was pulled off Facebook. I get there is always mechanically failures and cat will fix these on warrant but what a way to ruin a trip.
Kind of a pisser about this season with so many areas under-snowed.....we're really not getting a good read on some of the first year weaknesses.

Yep looks like cat still hasn't figured out how to build a clutch, no surprise here. Run them for 500 to 800 miles and throw them away.:face-icon-small-win

Cat and Team will get it figured out. It’s a sweet clutch. Put one on my 16 only got an hour on it before my season was abuptly ended but it was a fun hour. With the apparent issues the 16 clutch and belts will be with me on every trip just as an “insurance” policy. Glad I didn’t sell it!

So it's not a bearing/self adjusting design particular to these cat clutches thing?
Have ya been to Canada lol. We have been on a steady diet of 3 feet a week...

yes sir.
I have personally seen 2 p-85's that had the fixed sheave seperate from the shaft.
One had less than 1,000 miles.
Both covered by warranty. Bet u guys haven't heard about that problem. Hopefully this issue is similar in quantity, very few.....

You should be, 200cm in the last 7 days, probably 300 in the last two weeks. Was out today doing sled laps, waist deep when you got off the sled.

I a sure you it is a problem.
My sled early release with up dated clutch with roughly 200 miles exploded.
My brothers sled sno check with 660 miles exploded and the picture of that crack is off friends snocheck with 650 miles.
One resulted in a helicopter ride.
My sled is down right now and it is snowing off the hook here.
When my clutch let go it took the secondary clutch out, clutch guard, side panel, pipe , belly pan, tie rode end and and dented the a-arm.
What is the failure point?
What can we look for?
