running a 25/45 set up on my doo....if i gear back to 27/45, do i need to change the pin weights as compared to what i was running w/ lower gears? or can i just gear up and go?

Check rpms when full throttle to top end and do they maintain 8200? (yes or no)
If you are looking for more top end mph, I don't believe that you'll achieve it by going to that 27 top unless you are doing radar runs to where the conditions allow highest mph.

when adjusting the tension on the chain, what's rule of thumb? finger tight, plus 1/4 turn?

Yeah I do something like that, then I check it again after running through a full tank of fuel or two.
