Have a XC600 twin. First off I cleaned the carbs.
Sled idles fine.
It will some time run fine with good RPM and speed.
It will also back fire or fall on its face when you pin it.
The problem is not consistent.

Does it do it only when it is not warmed up good or does it do it even if the motor is good and warm?

Has Keihin carbs doesn't it?

Plenty warm. Yes it has Keihin carbs. If it makes it past 4000 RPM it runs good or it just falls on its face and never makes it over 4000 rpm.

I pulled the carb out because of the backfire. Tried new plug didn't help. Going to pull carb again and check float. Going to check voltage regulator. I forgot to mention the lights are not on. Where is the ground located on these sleds?
